Senior Energy Assistance is funded from fees collected through Avista's LIRAP program (Low-Income Rate Assistance Program). This program provides assistance for both heating and non-heating Avista expenses and usually has funding available throughout the year.

Key Facts –

• Total household income is based on 200% of the federal poverty Guidelines, with consideration given to medical expenses
• Household grants are set at $300.00 for Avista heated homes and $100.00 for Avista electric customers whose heat is another source
  
• Households are eligible for this program once per heating season

Eligibility –

• Households with an open Avista gas or electric account
• Households with a member 60 or over & whose name is on the account
• Must be at 200% of poverty. If the household is over these guidelines, non-reimbursed medical expenses can be considered
• If below 126% of poverty, cannot have received Energy Assistance help for the current heating season and all Energy Assistance funding must have been spent out
