Many low-income homeowners do not have the means to repair or maintain their homes, yet affordable housing often has dangerous or unhealthy defects. The SNAP Minor Home Repair Program repairs or replaces items that pose health or safety hazards. Unlike the Home Rehabilitation Program and HRRP, this program addresses minor but essential repairs such as no heat, no water and low-cost plumbing issues.
In addition, some low-income homeowners are forced by accident or ill health into wheelchairs and do not have the means necessary to install wheelchair ramps or other accessibility modifications.
